Because the board hasn't seized its chance to change the top and gone for a successor instead of an outsider, the stock limps.
AIG hangs in the balance. The company itself seems to have gone silent, as if it had lost its head. As if the new leadership there is waiting for former longtime CEO Hank Greenberg to come back. The stock is teetering with each new revelation.
And the reasoning is simple: No one at the top has changed. Greenberg left and Martin Sullivan, the handpicked successor, got bumped up.
